The soldier promised him to do everything possible for him; he wrote to his wife
in New York that he had found a Jewish child by the name of Alfred Strauss from
Huenfeld. This lady works in a factory, and right away she told this news
to a female coworker, who happens to be the sister of Minna Tannenbaum from
Huenfeld, who is the wife of ”Norbertchen”; and thus we heard it immediately
from Mrs. Tannenbaum
So far we don’t have dear Alfred’s address, since the soldier wasn’t allowed to
disclose the name of the town, which is in American hands.
At once I wrote a letter to beloved Alfred and promised him to do my utmost in
order to bring him over to us, and that we were waiting for him longingly. This
letter I sent to the wife of the soldier and asked her kindly to forward it. As soon
as we have dear Alfred’s address we’ll be able to send the sponsorship
documents for him. At the time when he met the soldier he didn’t know anything
about ”Millychen” and Gertrud. May the ”Gracious One” grant that they, too, are
still alive. The ”Gracious One” means well with us, for the start is made, now that
the dear boy was found. On May 23 he’ll turn fifteen already.
Yours Tony,
who loves you and thinks of you at all times
