Emilie’s letter, which
she wrote about March
1942 ( Purim is being
observed on the 14th
day of Adar), was
obviously sent via Red
Cross to Paula and Max
Kuhn, Kurt’s parents. In
the meantime aunt
Paula and her husband
had been deported from
Mannheim to a camp in
France. There was no
news from the Strauss
parents, who had been
deported from Huenfeld
to Riga on December 8,
1941.
Dear Aunt and Uncle!
I was very happy when I received your letter
through dear Kurt. First I thought that you, my
loved ones, would know mom’s and dad’s new
address. Unfortunately it is not so. Maybe mom
wrote to you already that I learn how to sew.
Currently I am sewing an apron for myself. I
already tailored a dress and a blouse for myself.
Last week I had a letter from aunt Meta.
Sometime during summer I had a chance to
talk to Kurt; maybe he wrote you about it. How
tall he has grown! Today is Purim, and I wish
for you that you may be able to celebrate it
many more years, and next year together with
Kurt.
Now I’ve got to finish,
heartfelt greetings and kisses, yours
Milly and Alfred,
who love you very much
