A memorial stone for the murder victims
In the early 60ies surviving Jews from the county of Huenfeld formed a committee in New
York with Joseph Strauss as its chairman. The committee’s goal was to have a memorial
erected at the Burghaun Jewish cemetery for their murdered relatives. They raised funds,
made suggestions and drafts regarding the design of the memorial.
Unter Federführung von Joseph Strauss bildeten überlebende Juden aus dem
Kreis Hünfeld Anfang der 60er Jahre in New York ein Komitee, mit dem Ziel, für
ihre ermordeten Ange-hörigen auf dem jüdischen Friedhof in Burghaun ein
Mahnmal errichten zu lassen. Sie sam-melten Geld und machten Vorschläge und
Entwürfe für die Gestaltung des Gedenksteins.

the chairmanship of Joseph Strauss the memorial for the murdered Jews from the county of Huenfeld was in
the planning stage.
