Beeing reunited - Letters tell the story
December 1944: Leutnant Arthur Lipschütz writes to his mother in the USA, she consults
the HIAS for help. HIAS finds the Wertheim relatives very soon.
January 1945: The Wertheim family has contact with Lt. Lipschütz not yet with Alfred, because
of military reasons Lipschutz is not allowed to publish Alfred' adress.
First letters between the Wertheims' and Alfred, who now lives with the Jewish Eisemann
family in Hoensbroek - not yet any signs of life from parents and sisters
Telegram of the Jewish relief organisation "Mosaiska Voersamlingen" - first sign of life from
the parents who were saved now to Sweeden
At the end of July 1945: Response-telegram to the parents in Sweeden - In the meantime
Alfred and Gertrud had found together.
July/August 1945: First letter of the mother to Alfred - At that time the parents have no
news about her daughters Emilie and Gertrud.
August 1945: Now Alfred can change letters with his parents with Eisemann's help. After
six years in the Netherlands Alfred speaks Dutch very fluently, much better than German.
