I don’t remember the reason, but at any rate, sometime in 1941 I had to leave the Krammer family in Zwolle. They took me to a family by the name of Cohen in Amsterdam. The Cohens used to live at Boerhaave Plein 16 on the second and third floor. Mrs. Sara Cohen was a widow, and her daughters Keetje, Miriam, and Greetje, as well as her son, Samuel comprised the family. Besides myself, yet another German Jewish lad by the name of Harry Gaertner had found a home with the Cohen family.
He was a little older than I.
