I, too, lived with a family by the name of Krammer. My Mr. Krammer was Gertud’s Mr. Krammer’s brother. They had one son and two daughters. All three of them were older than I. One of the daughters’ name was Fitje. Later on the parents perished during the Holocaust. However, the children survived the war at a hiding place. After the liberation they went to Israel. In the meantime the eldest daughter has passed away. Still nowadays I keep in touch with the two surviving siblings.
On May 10, 1940 - it was on a Friday - the Nazis invaded Holland. Very soon afterwards various antisemitic laws
were legislated,
and step by step
almost every-
thing was pro-
hibited for Jews.
At that time I
attended school
in Zwolle.
