December 8, 1941 - Early in the morning on this memorable day
there were visitors for the last time: Accompanied by the police,
16 ‘Burghauners’ arrived. According to what Inge Heiser nee
Nussbaum ( lives in the U.S.A. ) remembers they had taken the
train to Huenfeld, in order to assemble at the home of Joseph
Strauss. There they shared a warm vegetable soup, that Mrs.
Wertheim had cooked in a big pot. Was this a concession by the
local police because of a long wait for the departure of the train,
or was it? Nobody really knows anymore. It’s not known either,
whether the police took the Würzburgers, Isaak and Klara, to
Joseph Strauss’ place or to the station. At any rate, they too were
part of that transport.
