Isaac Wertheim with his son Hermann in
Naumburg about 1922
The livestock dealer Isaac Wertheim (*1867)
and his wife, Frieda nee Wertheim (*1876)
both came from Hatzbach near Kirchhain. In
Naumburg the family kept for many years a
large and busy rural household; in addition to
that a fabric store.- Isaac Wertheim was a pious
man, Synagogue elder from 1911-1936. Eight
children were reared at Naumburg.
From his first marriage to Regina nee Kaiser-Blueth: Sophie (*1895), and Paül (*1896),
and from his second marriage to Frieda nee
Wertheim: Hermann (*1902), Lilly (*1903),
Toni (*1905), Henny (*1907), Willy (*1909),
and Berny (*1912). Lots of work had to be
mastered from dawn to dusk.
A nice poem, which Hermann wrote in 1966
for a reunion with the then still living four
siblings, illustrates that in a humorous way.
During the last years of his life Hermann lived
in San Mateo, CA, where he died in the early
part of 2005 at the age of 103.
