Moving closer together:
In December of 1937 the Wertheim grandparents
moved in with the Strauss family. It is not known
whether there was a particular reason for giving
up living in Naumburg. Most likely living
conditions for the Wertheim couple had worsened
to the point, that they had to sell their house and
move to Huenfeld, in order to live with the family
of their daughter, Lilly. Many Jewish families
moved closer together during those difficult times
of persecution - from being destitute, for mutual
support, and in order to escape the growing
isolation.

zogen die Großeltern Wertheim im Haus
Strauss ein. Ob es für die Aufgabe des
Lebens in Naumburg einen ganz besonderen
Anlass gab ist nicht bekannt. Vermutlich
hatten sich die Lebensum-stände für das
Ehepaar Wertheim so verschlech-tert, dass
sie ihr Haus verkaufen mussten und nach
Hünfeld zogen, um dort zusammen mit der
Familie ihrer Tochter Lilly zu leben. Viele jüdi-sche Familien rückten in dieser schweren Zeit
der Verfolgung enger zusammen - aus
materiel-ler Not, um sich gegenseitig zu
unterstützen und um der wachsenden Isolation
zu entgehen.
